Walk walk walk

Just got home from the Vice Ganda show here in Singapore and I realized that the reason why I don't gain much weight is the fact that here, you have no choice but to walk most of the time and sometimes stand for hours...

As an illustration, this is a "portion" of the shaded path I walk on to get to the bus stop every morning.

So for those who are planning to come here, be sure you're ready for a "long walk".

Staying Put

I went to see the doctor today,. Well, I got a bit scared since my stubbed toe still hasn't healed. I went to the clinic one bus stop from our Client's so that I can go straight to work after. However, after the doctor checked my toe, I was advised to take the day off and rest my foot or prop it on a pillow.

The problem is, once I got home, I can't seem to stay still. The idea of just lying down and not do anything but read a book seems so foreign to me now. So, instead, I did some house chores and cooked. I only managed to stay put at around 4 in the afternoon. I now understand why Mom cannot seem to stop doing things or moving around the house, and I appreciate her even more now for that. I miss her...

I still want those days back though. The days when I won't and don't feel guilty just because I spent over an hour lying down or watching or basically didn't do anything. I think I'm too young to stop appreciating and enjoying the silence and peace of just staying put.

Busy as a Bee

I just realized how busy and preoccupied I was when this evening, after seeing a post of a friend in facebook, I found out that I have totally forgotten about an upcoming musical we are to watch tomorrow - Spelling Bee.

It has been one hell of a month for us. Working on holidays and weekends, one even stayed overnight, a couple stayed until 2am and some (including me) will work for 2 weeks straight. We are all tired and frustrated and pressured and sick of it all. But we are all in it, maybe together, maybe not. At least we are all there to cheer each other up, to make fun of the people around us and to listen and rant when that's the only thing we can do. I mean, when you're already at the bottom, there's no way left but up, right? Well, ok, maybe not, we might get stuck there. But what the heck, being stuck there with these people can be one the best things that will ever happen to me. =)

So, tomorrow is another busy, busy day - go to work (on a Sunday), go to the Philippine Embassy (to get OEC), buy something for Momsie and Daddy and watch Spelling Bee.

We'll make it out alive, well, probably barely, but still, hopefully alive.

Harry Potter Saturday

Finally, we got to watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince... yipee!!! I was in a good mood this morning (thanks to this) even as I head to the office for another working weekend. And to ensure that no one gets late to the movie, I told everyone I booked the 3pm screening when in fact the actual time was 315pm. Not only that, since I am the one holding the tickets I told them that I am not willing to miss the start of the movie because of anyone's tardiness... And boy did it work. They're all there by 245, complete with nachos and popcorns. :D

The movie was good, but of course, like most of its adaptations, it was compressed and fast paced. But I didn't mind. There were a lot of funny moments specially with Lavander Brown and Hermione. Can't wait for the next 2 films to come. In the meantime, I'll look forward to the upcoming movies on my list, also adaptations which I think will require a box of Kleenex - The Time Traveler's Wife and My Sister's Keeper. ;)

Happy Food!!!

This post was way overdue but nevertheless, since I want to remember how much good (happy) food I ate that week, I'm gonna post it anyway. ;)

Last last week we had a craving for happy food! So to satisfy our craving, we ate what we want and man did we ate a lot!! Yum yum!

Thursday: We started out with our favorite MenTei Ramen which I rarely get to eat now that I am assigned in Alexandra. I had the Miso Ramen (less noodles) with an extra half egg. We missed it so much that we finished our meal in less than 15 minutes. Hehehe...

For dessert, we head to Starbucks for something sweet and a cup of cafe mocha. I had too much sweet that day that I was in sugar rush overdrive.

For dinner I had the only burger I would eat from BK (one without Mayo and ketchup) which is the Swiss Mushroom. I've always liked this as it's somewhat similar to Wendy's Bacon Mushroom Melt minus the Bacon.

Friday: my sister and I went to our usual Friday dinner stop which is at Orchard, I bought my delicious Golden Roll from Sushi Tei and she had her Pancit at Wisma's Food Republic.

Saturday: To get away from the frantic state of our house, I had my brunch at Ya Kun Kaya Toast Holland Village. Cheesy French Toast Set it is.

I prepared my Buttered Prawns for Lunch/Dinner afterwhich we went back to Holland Village for some more sushi, Frapuccino and a brownie.

Yum, yum, yum... :D

I looove the rain

Specially on (no-work) weekends.

It has been raining non-stop since this afternoon and it's the perfect weather to just stay home and relax (which I did). Good thing I made arroz caldo (even before it started to rain), well it's not really something to be proud of since it's one of those ready to cook stuff, i just added strips of chicken, cooked deep fried tofu and voila! The perfect meal this rainy afternoon/evening. :)

Too bad weekend's almost over... Another Monday, another work-week... Sigh...

Project theme songs

There are so many things I want to write (mostly rant) about, however due to my current inability to put them all in words I am instead going to share one of the funny email exchanges my colleagues sent this afternoon.

From Jaime:

From Sara:

“Take me out of the dark my Lord!”

Again from Jaime:

Oo nga noh! Kapag nangyari yun eh di "SHOUT FOR JOY" tayong lahat!

That basically sums up what we are currently feeling and experiencing in this Project... Sigh...

Broken clock, broken locks

I really like this song, it reflects what I've been feeling lately...

"I may have lost my way now, I haven't forgotten my way home"
- Broken by Lifehouse

I can't decide which version is better so I placed them both instead.

Autobots, roll out!

"Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?"

I know, I know, that's a line from the first Transformers movie and not the new one. But I still like it and it never stops producing the same effects it had on me when I first heard it. =D

Got to watch Revenge of the Fallen last night though unfortunately we missed the first few minutes because "they" arrived a bit late. But that's ok, I can watch what we've missed when the DVD comes out =D which I hope is really really soon. The movie was so great I forgot about my throbbing head and everything work related, plus, to top it all off - Josh Duhamel is so gorgeous (akin ka na lang!)...

Find me

A week ago I got a little bit (just a bit) drunk and ended up writing this short piece.

If you really find someone who will make you want to spend one more day with her, one more precious day... The one who will make you do everything in your power to make your stay here last a bit longer... Then stick with her, love her, and treasure her. Don't let her go or... Find her. Find her. Find me.

Wish wish wish

Last year I was able to complete the Simbang Gabi but didn't wish for anything. It's not because I already have everything I want or need but I think it's mostly because I'm not sure if I am ready for my life (for now) to change. Yesterday though, I realized that I've always been ready for these changes, it's just that I'm just not sure if the people I care about are. But then again, this is my life, my joys and pains, my hopes and dreams. And so, I decided that it's time for me to wish for the things I've always wanted...

I just hope it's not yet too late...

Plus 1 Today

"The Prince is giving a ball..." It was a wonderful experience and I'm glad I didn't let it pass and I do hope it won't be my first and last Musical experience.

Hmmm... bought myself a knitted blouse on sale, My Sassy Girl (korean) dvd and a few more pasalubongs for my lovely friends. A phone call from JM - so good to hear her voice again. Dinner at pastamania and greetings from home. That I guess sums up this day. :)

The good, the bad, and the me...

It's Thursday and I feel like the whole week is passing by in a haze. I've been quite preoccupied with work and preparations for Saturday and it seems that my to do list for the week is not getting any shorter. sigh... 3 more major things to accomplish tonight and hopefully I can relax by tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I personally think it's all a good thing because one, at least I still am employed and two, I have friends here who are willing to celebrate and spend their precious time with me.

********

This morning I was soooo pissed so I decided to call a friend and rant about how dissappointed I am. Naturally, neither of us can do anything about it unless one of us decides to have a 'career talk' with him. I guess, sooner or later I'll have to do that. Probably sooner before my vacation so he'll have time to ponder about it while I'm away.

*********

Last night was the season premier of AI (yipee!!!) I was planning on catching it on Star World (8pm) but we all got excited of Ellen's flight that I forgot all about it and ended up watching the last 15 minutes of the show. Good thing it was also scheduled to be shown in another channel (at 10pm) so I was able to catch the first hour and 45 minutes of it. hehehe.

I think Kara's addition to the show was a good idea. Watching her and hearing her criticize or admire the contestants is like a breath of fresh air, plus I read that she's very much qualified for the job as she has written chart topping songs for the biggest names in Hollywood. She's like a girl version of Simon, only a bit subtler.

Most memorable scenes were the bikini girl and Scott Mcintyre's audition.

"What's your first and last name? 'Cause we only know you as top and bottom" (nasty!!!)

I guess I have to be home by 8pm to catch the part 2 of the Season premier. Hopefully all my errands are done by then.

********

A couple of days ago my friend told me about a Korean adaptation of Meteor Garden - Hana Yori Dango which she says was as good as (if not better) than the taiwanese version. I already watched the first 3 parts of episode 1 and I guess their version is better in terms of production and setting, more budget I suppose. Story wise I can't decide yet - I guess I have to watch the whole season to find out. Good thing I'm not way behind as they're only on their 4th episode (goody!) .

********

I'm pretty sure you're talking, but all I hear is 'yada, yada, yada'.

My Sister's Personal Secretary

A couple of nights ago when my sister was in my bed bugging me about something (because she was too lazy to turn on her laptop) she noticed my blogspot page. The annoying sister that she is, she asked about it and further contemplated on creating one of her own - but with an itsy bitsy catch...

She wanted me to type/write the things she wanted to say...

Sigh... As what Agnes would usually say in this situation, "Ate, teka, tutumbling na lang ako"...

in a week and 2

Two more weeks and I'll officially be in my favorite place on the whole wide world - home! Yey!!! Although it'll only be a week, I'm still so excited about it. I guess it's one of the few things that gives me the strength to move on to the next day, and the next, and the one after that and so on...

Another thing I'm looking forward to, and will make the two week wait endurable, is our (Peyton and mine's) celebration!!! Another Yey! And of course, the highlight of my celebration would be my much anticipated Cinderella experience.

Sigh... Still have to work before going to sleep...

A new leaf... or so it seems...

I don't exactly remember when, but at some point in my life I decided to stop having a New Year's resolution. Probably it's because I end up not fulfilling them. But for this year I think I'll just list down a few things I intend to accomplish.

1. Read at least 1 book per month - I had a 2 month hiatus from reading and now I'm stuck with this book which I should finish before the month ends.

2. Purchase original audio cd's and dvd's (for my favorite movies) - started doing this late last year but it's quite expensive here so I'll just keep a list and buy them in Manila or when it's on sale here.

3. Maintain my weight - losing a few lbs is ok, gain is a no no.

4. Save save save!!!

A big good luck to me! :D

Wishing everyone a Blessed and Wonderful 2009!

Merry Christmas!!!

It's been a wonderful and happy Christmas despite our being away from our parents. I was able too complete the nine-day Novena-Simbang Gabi (Yey!) and was singing one Christmas song over and over again. We got the things we wished for and more. Spent the day with my sister and friends and had a fun time singing our hearts out. I wish next year we'll be able to celebrate it with our family and have a crowded and sumptuous noche buena...

Again, a Blessed Christmas to all!

Misa de Galo

It's been a while since my last blog, it's not that I'm too busy, though a lot of things did happen - I went to Malaysia!!! Yey! - It's just that I'm getting a bit lazy... So, I will start my December blog with the appropriate topic of Misa de Galo.

Unlike in Manila, Simbang Gabi here is a bit more fun, that is, it sometimes becomes an adventure...

See how challenging it is to complete the 9-day novena... Moving from church to church isn't that easy especially if it is your first time in that area, but the Parish makes sure it'll be worth the challenge as they will serve free meals for all after each mass. Oh, if you're wondering, the 10th day is actually the anticipated Mass Celebration for Christmas.

So I guess I'll spend my next few nights church hunting. :)
